Crusaders was this awesome church program that met weekly. We earned badges by learning to knit or swim or doing a carpentry project, etc. oh how I loved the lining up and song and salute to dear Captain Olson! I wish there was a program like this for my kids... Awana is close, but I loved earnings those badges!
Grateful for silver linings, one of which is how family and friends are gathering around us in prayer and with offers of support. Cancer is a lot of hard things. It is already proving to be a lot of connecting with loved ones and strengthening of relationships and that is so, so good.

PRAYER REQUESTS
- Peace for Shawn and I, for Kyle and Miranda and Braden and Connor, for our parents and siblings and nieces and nephews and inner circle friends watching and hurting as we go through this
- that God would keep soft our children's hearts toward Him through all the emotions of this hard journey
- strength and stamina; physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually
- that the cancer shrinks to gone, gone, gone!
- gentle side effects to this second round of chemo
- family unity, harmony, love, strength, joy, happiness
- anything else you feel God puts on your heart

Awesome memories of crusaders... My favorite would have to be the sweet Missionary Mrs. Peel coming and talking to us about Africa while passing around an elephants foot!
ReplyDeleteOur kids are in GEMS at our church and they get badges on their scarf just like that crusader sash! Memories!
ReplyDeleteWow, that's a blast from the past. I did two years of Crusaders but didn't really enjoy it.
ReplyDeleteYup. I remember Crusaders very well. I can still recite the motto and the promise and could probably sing most of the song as well. Good memories!
