A certain song, or a song sung a certain way, can be such a mood changer. Tonight I am blessed to have received two incredibly special recordings by two incredibly special people... and peace and love and smiles were the miracle that accompanied these acts of kindness. I encourage you to share in the comments the link to a song that you find particularly moving... or something that makes you happy or laugh or mellow or peaceful or sure or whatever. With friends from all over the world I bet there will be some new and interesting songs we hear!!! May we connect and share and bless each other in some way each day.
I have a boatload of songs on my playlists, here are a few that spring to mind tonight...as you can see, my taste is all over the place, I will spare you the Top 40 and rap that I enjoy. Oooh, was watching Top 100 "1Hit Wnders" tonight and what a fun walk down memory lane that was! Anyway, here are a few links for you, remember to share your in the comment section!
This song gets me moving, feeling empowered, lifts me up in a strut-your-stuff sort of way that I love: Kelly Clarkson: Catch My Breath
This song calms me, this is my 'go to' song for hard moments: Aaron Schust: For God So Loved The World
This song makes me feel especially romantic and lusty for my husband [wink]: Lady Antebellum: Need You Now
This
song gets me pumped and ready to start the day... hmmm, as mornings are
a fairly slow-moving thing these days, perhaps I need to get this one
set as my alarm...who can resist: Hillsong Kids: This is the day
Grateful for silver linings, one of which is how family and friends are gathering around us in prayer and with offers of support. Cancer is a lot of hard things. It is already proving to be a lot of connecting with loved ones and strengthening of relationships and that is so, so good.
PRAYER REQUESTS
PRAYER REQUESTS
- Peace for Shawn and I, for Kyle and Miranda and Braden and Connor, for our parents and siblings and nieces and nephews and inner circle friends watching and hurting as we go through this
- that God would keep soft our children's hearts toward Him through all the emotions of this hard journey
- strength and stamina; physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually
- that the cancer shrinks to gone, gone, gone!
- gentle side effects to this second round of chemo
- family unity, harmony, love, strength, joy, happiness
- anything else you feel God puts on your heart

my favourite songs are probably from a different era. I love anything by the Beach Boys to get me moving, and memories of my parents are really heightened by songs like Always, Because, and classical songs. My church songs are Just As I Am, The Old Rugged Cross, and Psalm 23. Judy

ReplyDeleteToday is your day by Shania Twain http://vevo.ly/iW0VGL
ReplyDeleteThe first thing that came to mind for me was Somewhere Over the Rainbow/What a Wonderful World by Israel Kamakawiwo'ole: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C9b3_1CcXtY
ReplyDeleteOne of the pieces that does it for me is So Sheep May Safely Graze, I believe from Handel's Messiah. It's on this album, http://www.emusic.com/listen/#/album/-/-/10856887/, which is either packed and hiding somewhere or with the ex. Local musician Brad Prevodoros.
ReplyDeleteIf I need to get housework done, then something by Sousa or Led Zeppelin usually gets me moving. Ain't No One Here But Us Chickens by Louis Jordan does it too. Unfortunately, the sound of the vacuum cleaner drowns out the music, or the dryer does it.
I am just so happy to see you getting back to being you Kristin. Eek is back in your vocabulary. Big smile.

Thank you Margie for posting this on Kristin's blog early on, it's comfort and strength every time I listen to it.
